New Zealand Mussel Industry Council
Limited
Since the 1980s, we have seen significant growth in the Mussel Industry
in New Zealand. The Industry is now a major international exporter of
an, "environmentally sustainable", product.
New Zealand Seafood Industry Council
Seafood Industry Council (SeaFIC) promotes the interests of all sectors
of the fishing industry. They provide economic information and advice
to the industry, co-ordinate industry resources, and enhancement of
the industry's profile in the community.
New Zealand Seafood Industry Training
Organisation
SITO facilitates competence-based training across all areas of the industry,
including both industry-specific training such as seafood processing,
and more generic training like management and information technology
skills.

Ministry of Fisheries
The Ministry of Fisheries (MFish) was established as a stand-alone agency
on 1 July 1995. MFish's primary purpose is to ensure that fisheries
are sustainable and that New Zealand’s aquatic ecosystem is healthy.
New Zealand Food
Safety Authority
NZFSA was established on 1 July, 2002 to administer regulation in a number
of key areas, including: food sale for the domestic market, the primary
processing of animal products and official assurances related to their
export, the export of plant products, and controls regarding the registration
and use of agricultural compounds and veterinary medicines. NZFSA is
the New Zealand controlling authority over imports and exports of food
and food related products.
FishServe
FishServe provides registry services to the New Zealand commercial fishing
industry for the Quota Management System.
The Maritime Safety Authority of New
Zealand
The Authority’s principal objective is to undertake activities
that promote a safe maritime environment, while providing effective marine
pollution prevention schemes and a marine oil pollution response system.

Research
Established in 1992 as one of nine New Zealand Crown Research Institutes
(CRIs), NIWA’s mission is to provide a scientific basis for the
sustainable management and development of New Zealand’s atmospheric,
marine and freshwater systems, and associated resources
Cawthron Institute
Activities at the Cawthron Institute include research, advice, and service
in their areas of expertise: aquaculture, marine biosecurity, toxic
micro-algae, coastal and estuarine ecology, and freshwater ecology.
They also perform analytical testing for commercial clients.
